FAQ

  • What is a Drone?
In aviation a drone refers to an unpiloted aircraft. Another name for it, more commonly used in Military application is a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). We tend to stay away from combat zones with ours to focus on Photography, Video and Cinematics with the attached 4K/48MP camera.
  • What do you do?
We provide High Resolution Aerial Photography and Video Services for Business, Personal Applications and everything in between from Somerset across the United Kingdom. We use the newest in Drone Technology to give you a perspective only before seen by birds and light aircraft. Then, we take all of that content back to base, where we can edit it for your specific needs if it's required.
  • How can this benefit me?
We offer a wide range of applications, just a few of those being on our home page and the link sections. These include Aerial Photography, Videography and Cinematography, Editing, Estate Agency Photography, Video Creation and Social Media Reels. Inspections, Surveillance, Corporate Videos, Content Creation, Hotels, Venues, Restaurants, Virtual Tours, Sports Capture and more. For anything not found on our Website, please don't hesitate to get in touch via. Phone, Email or fill in the ' Get in Touch ' Box found on our Contact Page.
  • How far do you travel?
We cover all of the United Kingdom. Within a 10 mile radius of The Mendip Hills, Somerset (BS39 7SP) is included in our price - for any further a field, there will be an additional charge. Please Contact us either via. our Contact form, Call us on 07595604278 or send us an email at thedroneman@hotmail.com prior to booking and we can give you an exact figure and any more information that you require.
  • How do you protect privacy
It's our duty to protect anyone and everyone without consent from our photography and video capture, so we take all precautions to stop this at the initial stage of recording. If after this, anyone who's not meant to be there, is - it's a very easy task for us to hide or blur the identity or edit them out of the shot altogether.
  • What are Reels?
Reels are the Ratios (Size Formats) in which sites like YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook use to display their photography and videos (This is often but not limited to Phone or Tablet size) - This needs to be taken into account before any photography or filming to end up with the highest quality end product.
  • What is Editing?
This is the process we go through with all of the content we capture from the day if you've chosen this service to be included. It can be quite a lengthy process, often upto 2 or 3 times as long as the time we are Aerial, but it's something we love to do and the results speak for themselves. We use top of the range editing software to customise every moment captured at a greater level, to tailor it to your needs. Imagine how a movie is made and put together, clipped scenes for effect, lighting to reflect the mood, added music, effects and so on, all to create atmosphere, intrigue... A visceral story without words - All this taken into account before we ever leave the ground.
  • Are you registered, trained and insured?
In short, yes, yes and yes. We are fully registered to fly by the CAA after passing our test with flying colours and operate in the C0 Class with Close Proximity Licensing. We have public liability insurance to cover yourself and us in the unlikely event of an accident up to 1,000,000 GBP.
  • Do you support a charity?
Yes - We alternate our charitable donations every 3 months with the seasons and are currently donating 1% to The British Heart Foundation.
  • Which payment methods do you accept?
We currently accept all major Credit/Debit Cards, Apple Pay, PayPal and Bank Transfers.
  • How high and far can you fly?
Legally we can fly up to an altitude of 120 meters, but the drone itself can go much higher, to around 500 meters or so (above the clouds). We must be able to see the drone at all times for safety reasons, so this rule of thumb applies to the distance we fly from 'home' too. Our Drones are capable in excess of 20 kilometers (roughly 12 miles), though this is reduced in built up areas.
  • When can you fly?
We're open from 6am - 6pm everyday but Sunday - Anything outside of this time can be arranged by getting in touch with us prior to booking. Our Drones do not like the rain, so we will not be able to go or stay out if this happens. Photographic capture is smooth in up to 15 mph winds, any higher than and we start to notice a slight deterioration in the video capture. The drone will fly in upto 25 mph winds and can still take an incredible photograph, but we prefer not to risk this if we can help it. If the weather isn't adequate on your day and time of booking, we will contact you either the night before or in the morning to re-book you for the first convenient and available time. Please note, this can often be the same day or following day.
  • Where can you fly?
Every field, street, mountain, hill, beach and valley, as well as inside for many needs; we can fly almost anywhere! Please contact us for any further information.
  • How stable are the Photos/Videos?
You would be forgiven for thinking we've got a very long set of stilts and the steadiest hand known to mankind at the top of them holding a camera - Our work is stability personified. Check out some of what we do below, in our gallery sections or from the links from our homepage for specific applications.
  • What resolution is your Photography and Video captured at?
We shoot everything in 4K or lower if required and our video capture is at 24/25/30/60/100/120(slo-mo) fps (frames per second). We capture stills (photographs) in up to 48MP (megapixels) including HDR images.
